 What is SMT Maestro ?

SMT Maestro is a software tool designed to increase productivity in various steps of printed circuit board assembly. SMT Maestro fits in the gap between expensive can-do-everything software solutions like Circuitcam, Trilogy 5000 and UniCam, and the manual method where only a spreadsheet program or a texteditor are used to prepare the assembly of new products.

Here are some examples of where SMT Maestro can help you saving time and money:

  • Inspection of the first board coming from the pick&place machine
  • Easily find the locations of components that failed during electrical tests.
  • Merging of centroid files with the bill of material and exporting the resulting file to your preferred format
  • Conversion of BOM-files with multiple items per line to single item per line, for easier import into your MRP-system.

 How it works

  • Start with importing an ASCII-formatted centroid-file with coordinates, rotations, reference designator and top/bottom indicator.
  • Optionally merge this file with a BOM-file (bill of material) to complement the data with partnumbers, package shapes, partvalues or some user-defined data types.
  • Then view a graphical display of the board, move the cursor over the parts, and immediately see the part's RefDes, partnumber and other characteristics.
  • Or ask the program to highlight one specific part, or all parts with a certain partnumber or value.
  • Export the combined data from centroid-file and BOM-file to your preferred format, or have SMT Maestro add some extra lines so that the file can easily be re-read in a later session.

 Features

  • Load a centroid file and plot all components on the screen
  • Merge centroid file with a BOM (bill of material)
  • Convert bill of material from multiple item per line to single item per line, and save the result
  • See a part's characteristics by simply moving the cursor over the graphical display
  • Scroll through list of Reference Designators, highlight corresponding components, and view partnumbers and partvalues
  • Easily highlight a part by selecting it's reference designator, or highlight all instances of a selected partnumber, partvalue or package-shape
  • You can even use user-defined data-types !
  • Export files to user defined format, to speed up the process of converting a customers-file to a pick&place file
  • SMT Maestro comes complete with samplefiles, a helpfile with tutorial and a printable manual (Acrobat Reader format)
